Welcome to McButterfly Cards. Each card you see here is an original work, designed and hand-made by me (Larry McDonald) in the wilds of New Hampshire, assisted only by the gentle criticism of my wife.
I’d never thought of myself as an artist until recently, when we decided to give each other a hand-made gift for Christmas. I came up with something cute and silly and thought to add some dignity with an original card. My wife loves butterflies, as do I, so that’s what I did. She loved it. So I made one for my mother-in-law. She loved it too – thank goodness.
Even better, I found I enjoyed making cards and made more, for friends and other relatives. I’m in my 70s, reluctantly retired for several years. I was getting bored and depressed. It was delightful to lose myself for a few hours in a sweet world of color and design, and end up with something lovely and decorative. 150-plus butterflies later, it occurred to me that someone might actually want to buy them. My wife and daughter didn’t burst out laughing at the idea, so we went ahead. After several months of fooling with computers, scanners, printers and the like, McButterfly Cards was born. I hope you like them.
